Mexico Surf Vacation

Mexico Surf Vacation

Postby gravityrider » Thu Feb 01, 2007 4:40 am

I am wanting to take my teenage daughter and wife on vacation and learn to surf. My wife prefers the all-inclusive, sit on the beach type place.
Can anyone help with the ideal spot for such a trip. Time is limited so, the least amount of travel time is best. From what I can determine The Pacific coast of Mexico looks good. Anyone know of surfing at any of those resorts?
Thanks

Hi theres playa princess in accapulco ,lots of big hotels a huge beach with not many surfing or theres ixtapa about eight hours away same type of thing but better surfing and also alot nicer place than accapulco .
Theres loads of different places but i think the best thing to do is find a couple of places the misses likes then go to www.wannasurf.com and check the surfing around the area.
Good luck
also can get fairly crowded in most spots and some of the locals aint the nicest.

If you dont know, he means Punta de Mita. I was there the second week of Jan this year. The locals were friendly. If you were catching the wave, they would pull out, there was never anyproblems. One actually dropped in on me....he was saying sorry for like an hour.....

I surfed Punta Burros because it was right off the beach of the Palladium Vallarta....Great 4+ star resort....lots to do, plus surfing right off the beach. I didnt hear alot of good things about the surfing instruction. Though just up the road from there there are some surf shops that are supposed to be decent. Or you can hit up Saulite, which is pretty busy on the breaks, but lots of surf shops, and it is a nice beach break.

I am planning to go to Ixtapa next month. Would you happen to know more or less how much are the room rates for the hotels in Ixtapa? Thanks. :D

I know of a place also north of puerto vallarta, called San Pancho or san Francisco on the state of nayarit, town its just 5 miutes away from the famous sayulita surfing town, which is a good place to learn or longboard with many surf schools and rentals.
