Looking to pick up the sport this summer. Wondering if there were any surfshops down in the Los Angeles area?...some good prices on used equipment would be a definite plus!

sorry but we have no more surf shops here in SoCal, they have been outlawed by the order of our "dear Leader" from Texas because they promote goofing off and activities unbecoming proper americans.......no offense to Texans

seriously there are only a few hundred surfs shops in the L.A. area,....

socal is surfshop heaven!

kevyee - san diego would be a great place to go surf board shopping and catching waves. we have plenty of places here to shop for whatever surfing stuff you need and great beaches.

Keyvee: Huntington, Newport, Seal Beach Laguna etc,.....lots of shops+summer=$$$$ on used gear.

Best bet: Play It Again Sports--it is a used sporting goods store. It will be a crap shoot but you can get used boards in (fairly) good condition for cheap. Look for longboards/funshapes from 7'6" x 19 3/4.....there is one on Harbor Blvd in Costa Mesa,....that is a store and a board at that store

Try Huntington Surf and Sport. I bought a wetsuit there and they were all VERY helpful. They also have a selection of used boards. The customer service was terrific.

It's right across from the Huntington Beach Pier.
