first board 9.5 stone beginner

OK guys, Im in need of a little advice.
Im looking for a practical, all rounder beginners board that will give me plenty of waves and handling ability - basic carves etc. Im 15 in a few weeks, and dont have a job (yet!) so I wont be buying anything until next summer - meaning I have a bit of time to rake some money in, however, this wont be much, so I wont have masses to spend. If you could give me any UK sites, price guides or advice Id be more than greatful.

would surf around the (more south) devon coastline but also cornwall now and then. though I wont be too 'regular' as its a 2 hour drive down, but I have family in plymouth so we do visit quite often.

in the learning process, well, I can choose my waves, paddle in, get to my feet and start riding - a few carves now and then but the hire out foam boards dont help much.

I searched around a few useful sites on surfboards for beginners and eventually followed a link to the 'bic' site. I pretty much think I have found the correct make and board, but if you think Im making a mistake please tell me. Im looking at the ACS Bic boards that are apparently perfect for beginners what with stability, thickness and durability. Seeing as Im around 5'8 going on 6 foot in a few months, Im thinking either the 7'3'' or 7'9'' would be right down my street. What dya think? Yeah BIC boards are great beginners board and are cheap.. i would go for the 7'9 because i think its a great board with lots of byounacy and really easy to paddle.. a brand new 7'9 Bic would probaly cost you something around £230. check out www.boardshop.co.uk they do some good deals..where about do u live??

7'9'' would be OK for a 9 stoner? I live in Wiltshire, so Wales is an option as its as far as Devon and Cornwall but I just prefer the south west. plus its warmer in the summer

7'9 or bigger, you could get a longboard straight away and get into that cas there are some good longboarding breacks in south devon. and you said "7'9'' would be OK for a 9 stoner", im 10stone (pure muscle ) and i sometimes ride a 6'2"

On another forum a guy suggested the CTS Bic 6'10'' to me as he thought I could quite easily get away with it. Do you think this would be a good idea, as It would provide me with a bit more freedom as I eventually want to be a shortboard rider. Just wonderign whether I could get away with the 6/'7'' Bic, its still a begginers board, tough and hard wearing but it would also offer me a lot more flexibility. What do yuo think? Ive got the 6'7 Bic, but should have read up more :( it is a good board but alot harder to catch smaller waves. im 5'10 and im now going to get at least a 7'6 minimal :)
