My baby, my poor baby

My 1 month old board got a 4 inch gash in it today. What pisses me off the most is that I was surfing a frickin sand bar. WTF CRACKED IT? The place I normally surf is a rocky point break. The kind of place that should kill a board. And i hurt my board at a sissy sand beach.

omg tht really isnt fair. i voted u go down at low water and give tht sand a good old sholinh to teach it a lesson. do u have any pics of the damage.

It's an easy fix, I just have to get some ding repair which isnt so easy where i live (I have to go about 3 hours up the coast to find it).

I don't really have time to do that right now and I have a surf trip planned for Friday.

I would but I dont want to get any water in the board out of fear of delamination.

pfft, masking tape is the bomb. on my old board i did it for like 8 months before i got it fixed...worked fine....then i snapped the nose off :roll:

I feel your pain Forosansurfer...my NEW board was smashed onto the road when it was delivered, broke the nose and dingined it big time...i didnt even get to ride it!

It really depends on the size of the gash.
If it's really deep and big then i'd say definately don't do it. However on smaller dings and cracks then you can get away with it.
The reality of the situation is you have already surfed with it like that once with no gafa tape on it! So provided thast you ensure it is really well taped and it gets throughly dried out after and you don't make a habit of it but get it fixed then i'm sure you'll get to surf tomorrow.
I gashed myself up the other day whilst kitesurfing, didn't bother to tape myself up and so far fingaz crossed i've suffered no delamination.

As long at the break is not structual, Ducktape is the way to go, used it for years to temp. fix both small and big dings and gashes so I could go out and then fix it when I got home.
