Dug out my Betty Crocker Cookbook just for you
4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
2/3 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/4 cups Gold Medal Flour (it's a common brand in US, if you use self rising flour, then omit the baking powder and salt)
1 teaspon baking powder (not baking soda)
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped nuts
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease baking pan (or spray with cooking spray) pan should measure 13 by 9 by 2 inches. Melt chocolate and shortening in large saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat. Mix in sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients. Spread in pan.
Bake 30 minutes or until brownies start to pull away from sides of pan. Do not overbake
Cool slightly, cut into bars and serve.
I prefer to use Ghiradelli's package mix, it's a lot easier.
