I can't get motivated when it's cold out. I live in the South Pacific so when it dips down towards around 15C it feels pretty damn cold (although I am certain many of you would laugh at 15C).

15C lmao sorry mate but to me 15C is warm the water here is curently around 10C and will drop to around 8.5-9C in the next few weeks, i can last about 1-2hours if im moving around constantly to keep my self warm, the max tempreture it gets here in the summer is 17C

The water is stupidly cold at the moment too!! As long as I keep movin Im ok tho

im gonna have to agree, the coldest it gets for me is 16c water temperature, a 3/2 fullsuit (or even a shorty) will make you comfortable here, but i still dont like cold weather, im waiting for summer: sunny, boardshorts and 1st light morning sessions ahhhhhhhh :lol:

If my conversion is right, our winter water temp. in the northeast of the US is around 1-2 celsius, or 34 degrees Fahrenheit. Many snowy sessions, in fact last winter I actually slipped and fell on the beach, the sand was frozen. It sounds messed up, but there's so much good surf during the winter, if you don't find a way to deal with it, you'll miss out. But trust me, it has to be really good to justify going out in it, and the cold keeps the crowd to a very minimum, with plenty of sessions alone.

Thats the problem, our best waves are winter waves. The summer is flat and boring

ya im from rhode island, so some of the winter sessions are the best. the best part is the beaches arent packed with tourists and theres usually no one out surfing

I dont find it too bad, i mean this time of year the water temp is warmer than the air temp. Aslong as you have a 5mm suit,boots,gloves and hood you will be fine!

water temp down here in NC is 50...and its a lil chilly for my likin

but it beats back home in long island.....i cant imagine you guys up in Maine.

Check this out.... up here in Canada in the winter, we break through the ice and surf on ice burgs ha, it's crazy fun.

But yeah the conditions up here when there is ice over the water isn't the greatest for wave surfing.. so I surf ice.

the water itself is ok, its refreshing but once your out thats when i regret getting in in the first place.

nothing a hot shower straight after wont fix tho..

once ur in the water with ur suit it isnt bad... its getting changed that sucks haah....i was out in -3 in a summer suit.. that kinda sucked.

hey guyz nd gals dis Shannie from Newzealand. Ive just recently really got stick into my surfing and im gonna get pro one day.how many times a week do you guys surf and doyou think 17 is too old to get into it and become a pro???
