You are pushing it Brent, now back off. I have moved to Putaruru partly because your Council have allowed my hometown to become a toxic, overcrowded dump. There is broken glass and vomit on every other street corner, a major drug problem, and drunks all over the pavements even on weekday mornings! I am choosing to bring my children up in a small Waikato town where old fashioned politeness and clean drinking water still exist.
Please remember this: I am only forty minutes from the Mount, will be surfing there regularly as I always do, and will not be taking any nonsense from you or anyone else when I am in town.

I'm really interested in having a go at the surf wax. As part of our Young Enterprise company we are looking to sell organic surf wax. You may have heard of Young Enterprise - it's an international charity that encourages students to get involved in business.) We would need to use the cold water wax (Newquay UK)and as you have found sourcing tree resin reasonably cheaply is a problem. Have you heard anything further from the company you mentioned who were going to tap tree resin in NZ? Our company has to be wound up by the end of July next year so we need to get a move on! Would buying from you be an option - either the resin or the wax? (The judges of the competition are keen to see companies getting involved in import/export.)
Lastly, how do you market your wax i.e. what are the nasty things that go into ordinary wax?

The warm water wax will work in cold water but it is less sticky and is harder to apply. The coconut oil solidifies below about 20 C, and the wax gets harder when this happens. We use the warm water wax down to about 13 degrees water temperature, and find that keeping the wax in one's pocket will warm it to body temperature making it easier to apply. The tree resin is hard to get although I see on the net that it is possible to buy drums of 'Rosin'. A company here in NZ is now tapping pine resin so we should be on to a good supply soon. The cool water wax with resin is much stickier in cold water .

The wax which we make ('Northern Light' boardwax) is being sold in the UK, but I'm sure that we could sell you some wax either in bulk or with a different label or something. I'm not an expert on the commercial side of things but please let me know what you think and if I can help. We can also get pine resin in any quantity.

We make organic beeswax and coconut surfboard wax. It's very good wax, and saves one from the foul experience of skin contact with paraffin and artificial scents. It's very easy to make and I will happily post the recipe (or recipes) if you ask me nicely.
We sell the wax (called 'Northern Light') online at http://www.woodensurfboardbuilder.com but I don't mind giving the secret away . . in fact I posted it on Swaylock's already. Swaylock's actually banned me for saying that the world is round, that longboards start at 14 feet and a few other really obvious truths but never mind, we soldier on!
The recipe on Swaylock's is a warm water wax, for colder temperatures a different mixture is required.

Basic Surf Wax Mixture:

(Melt together at about 100F) 60-70% Paraffin Wax, 15-20% Microcrystalline Wax, 5-10% Petroleum Jelly, 5-10% Adhesive (Vistenex) Small amounts of Scent and dye.

The amount of petroleum jelly and wax needs to be adjusted for the water temperature in your region. If the Temp is warm in your region use more wax and less petroleum. If the water is cold use more petroleum and less wax. The Microcrystalline wax and Vistenex give it the "stickiness".

Watch out it can get real messy.

I shoud also say that neither Surfing Waves nor I can be held responsible for anything that happens as a result of your trying this out!!!!

This site is bull, its just a scam, I had to laugh.

Before you get the whole site closed down because you are so irate perhaps I should let you know that it is a typo. It should read Vistanex. I don't understand why none of the adhesive experts did not pick up on that one
