Where's the closest place to surf from Birmingham in the UK?

i live in the UK near Birmingham, I really wanna learn how to surf, does anybody know the closest place i can learn? and about how much it would cost for lesson and equipment?

Sara - I live in Leamington Spa and here are your options:

Bournemouth - probably the shortest driving time, but not the most consistent of spots

Porthcawl, Wales - a little bit longer driving, but west facing - Rest Bay picks up the most swell - check out the webcam here:

The Gower - Some world class waves to be had on a good day, but you're already looking at 3 hrs driving time.

Borth, nr Aberystwyth - Apparently quite a nice wave when it works, but I've never been there.

That's about your closest lot really. Not great I know, but Rest/ Bournemouth are about 2 hrs away so you can still do it in a day.
