surfing reefs

surfing reefs

ok heres the deal i want to start surfin reef breaks but they scare the sh!t out of me! i dont like the fact that the bottom is hard n then dont take off on anything if im on a reef. anyone got any tips to avoid dying if i wipe out?

Get yourself a lid...
and start on the sholder untill you get used to the wave and build your skill...

i've surfed a few reef breaks in hawaii on a trip and basically try to forget about the reef because it'll just syke you out, once you get up though it looks so cool because you can see the reef under you

In the UK you won't see the reef under you, in most places you can't see your knees when you're waiting for a wave.

Also it won't be a beautiful coral reef - it'll be dull black rocks!!

I have a similar problem to our scarborough friend, but there are plenty of good beach breaks about.

dont come to cornwall .....theres no legitimate reefs...anyone else read wavelenght a couple of months back ?

not so bad is it really... look after your head and the rest looks after its self. Look after your knees tho.

Try okinawa. Every surf spot is a reef breack spot if you dont have a choice ill say go for it i a sponger but im getting a board soon. the only thing i noticed is on reef the waves are like more powerful
