Surfers in Venice, CA?

Hey fellow surfers,

Looking to make contact with some local surfers in Venice . . . get the lay of the land (or water in this case) if you will, possibly find some surfing partners. I've been surfing for a year, still a beginner, have an 8'4" Bic board, looking to get a shortboard in the near future. I try to surf mornings before work (6:00 am).

I am out here in Santa Monica and sell boards in Hermosa Beach. If you need any advice on some local breaks or some boards just let me know.

Thanks guys, I'm digging the break, it's decent for a beginner as far as I can tell.

Guess who I saw on the beach wearing his surf gear yesterday? Perry Farrell! He was in a wet suit, but the waves were not to his liking so he left without surfing. I was bummed, I was hoping he would tear it up!
