Width of my new surfboard

Hey guys
I am 16 years old my height is 6"3 and I weigh around 75kg and live in NZ, so ride at piha mainly
At the moment I ride a 6"10 board and it is quite skinny(don't know how fat)
And the smallest Iv ridden is 6"3. I'm an intermediate. I'm thinking of going smaller but the board I wana get is 6"2 and 18 1/4 inches in width and 2 1/4 thick.

At the same time I know the owner of Coastlines, and he said that he would find me something around the same size but wider (the board is random)

So I was wondering is the lost board not wide enough
And are random boards good

I am not sure what level you are at, which would strongly influence your board choice. If you could elaborate that would help.

What is your reason for going smaller? Unless you are regularly pulling snaps and other tricks that require you to flick the board around, there really is little point in going smaller.

Given that you are asking the question, I would think that the board you mention is too small; it would hurt your wave count. I would save money and frustration and stick with your 6'10.

I am can get up easily, and stay on and move well, the reason I am buying the board is because the 6"10 I am currently using is not mine have have been borrowing it. Thats why I wana know if the 6"2 is more then average in width or less

18 1/4 x 2 1/4 is narrow and thin. I would buy something that is a similar size to what you are riding now

I'd suggest sticking with the 6' 10" and getting your skills up but since you are borrowing look to going shorter with more width and thicker around 6'4" with a good basic shape that can get you into the better range of waves.
The short answer is the 6'2" is narrow .

Sweet thanks guys for the answer, will do what you said, I think the main reason I want the lost is because (this is the amateur surfer speaking within me speaking) I think it looks bloody awesome

Kia Ora, Glad to help you, you should be able to get a board to rock at the Rock. A board the profile of that 6' 2" would be a down the line driver in Indo or at full throated Raglan at about 6ft.
Try a few more of your friends' board it's a good way to be able to tell between a flashy looking board and one that will really deliver the goods on performance.
BTW your criteria will change as you develop your skill set!

I'm 6' 195 lbs. I have a 7'2" mini-mal, a 6'10" shortboard, and a 6'0" modern fish. But my 6'0" is 21" wide and 3" thick, AND it's an epoxy board. So unless you are really good, I suggest going thicker and wider if you want to go shorter. 18" is not nearly wide enough.. you will sink that thing.
