Do you open your eyes while swimming in ocean?

Just worried about salt...

Sometimes. Sometimes on purpose and sometimes not. Many surfers will not use corrective lenses. Some of us use prescription sunglasses (having non-streatching headband). Others use disposable contacts, it is no biggie if they lose one.

I wear contacts all the time and have yet to lose one, it will feel weird at first but you get used to it when salt water gets on it.

I wear contacts. You should close your eyes underwater or when you get sprayed.
I only lost a contact once, when I wiped out repeatedly trying to surf Leslie's waves,
