The local shaper I worked with was Mike Becker at Natures Shapes (Sayville, Long Island). Their website is here:
The board I went with is their performance model, which isn't really my style of surfing but after talking to Mike it seemed to make the most sense because its lighter and turns faster. The waves here in western long island and NYC are fast, hollow, and generally have a lot less forgiving of a face so the performance type board is supposed to help with that. Looking at the Kassia board, it seems like its very similar in both shape and dimensions to my board. But on the west coast with the bigger, more powerful waves and the gentler face, I feel like there are a lot more possibilities...
Best of luck with your rental! The 9-0 should be fun.
