Is this a good camcorder for surfing?

I already have a GoPro, but I want to buy a camcorder to film from a tripod on the beach. I'm looking at the Sony Handycam CX260V http://www.amazon.com/Sony-HDR-CX260V-D ... 006K5507M/. It says 30x optical zoom, so that should be enough, right?

You're a Lumberjack and that's OK that particular Sony can do a reasonable job. particularly with the following focus and stabiliser.
Tripod a must for good shots and panning to follow your subject.
