tamarindo in november?

hey all, looking to do a cheap trip in November, flights are cheap to costa rica so I was wondering if i'll get any waves down there. I was also considering Puerto Rico but i don't want to rent a car in order to get around to the surf breaks. I'm a beginner short boarder so im looking for some knee to chest high waves.

I stayed here http://www.laovejanegrahostel.com/ (black sheep hostel) for a couple nights in tamarindo. they drive to other surf spots if you throw them some gas money
