Somewhere before I start a surf tour in Peru - Ecuador??

I'm off on a surf tour or peru in mid feb. I want to go somewhere else in south america that's cheap but has goodish waves. I've been told about Nicaragua and Ecuador. Has anyone been there? and if so recommendations? Looking to go end of jan/ start of feb. Where to fly to? accom? prices? etc

jan/feb is a good season for ecuador and northern peru, perfect long barrels in several places, take a look at costa rica, salvador and panama, i thnk salvador is cheaper, here in central peru we got waves all year, jan/feb is summer, nice weather, nice water temp, good night life, long point breaks, mostly rights, beachbreaks and even huge waves like pico alto. peru and ecuador are cheaper than central america. if you got a question let me know.

Peru, Equador, Panama, Costa Rica & Nicaragua would be epic. Colombia has waves but is still a bit sketchy as is El Salvador. Fly into CR, usually the best prices in Air Fare. Costa Rica need prices are probably the highest but it is also the safest. You can always find cheap places to stay; it is up to you what you are willing to endure. Find the local eateries to save money on food. Transportation will be your biggest overall expense and time constraint.
