Hi, I'm from Galveston. I'm a new surfer so take this as you will but I went down there yesterday (Friday) and it was really rough. There is a storm coming in or sitting out in the gulf so at least we're getting some kind of waves but it's got a lot of chop and strong currents. I didn't even feel like fooling with it and one time out and I went home. I'm not very experienced and thought it was just too much for me at this point but I did see a lot of other surfers out there so you could give it a try. I was at the flag ship area if that helps. I did see some cleaner surf down the beach or at other jetties but I was already on my way home and didn't feel like stopping.
