Saw this video and from the title was expecting a bit of a slating of the idea of putting the world's best surfers on to another urban beach break for a comp. Before I realised it was a Quiksilver event. Can't help but think if it was a Billabong event he'd miss it if there was something better to be had on the far side of the world
He does make a fair point though, admittedly... it does kids good to see pros surfing their beloved beachies. Despite his obvious motives for making the comments. Would be interested to hear other's thoughts on the direction of pro surfing. Should it be "Best Surfers on the Best waves" maybe even allowing for bigger swell windows to ensure more quality waves or "Bringing the sport to the fans", big events, more commercialism (not intended to be biased.... honestly). Or a mixture of both (if so what percentageof each?) Discuss.
