Balance boards? Please help!

Guy's...hi.
I need some advice please. I've just finished a season boarding in France and now I want to get down to surfing again. However I've got to work for a couple of months to fund a summer of fun! I saw adverts for balance boards the other day, I was wondering if anyone out there has used one or know if they're any good for keeping skills etc up?
If anyone's got any info please share it with me!

ive used one and theyre ok, but a waste of money. you can make one for about 90 dollars cheaper then what they are, but there are much better ways to improve your balance like actually surfing, or if you cant walking fence is REALLY good. Just find a pipe fence and walk it forever. Or skate

yea, since ive been surfing i can ride a bike no handed forever, and can steer and pedal and everything, its cool as because i could barely ever do that for half a second.

well, i better go with my dad and pick up my "coozins" (theyre new zealenders) from the airport. hope they dont want a foosh n shoops or whatever
