FCS Mark Richards fins (3 fin set)

FCS Mark Richards fins (3 fin set)

Postby radical ronald » Fri Apr 08, 2011 11:40 pm

Hi,

FCS has two sets of the good öl polyester Mark Richards fins which I really like because they make me think of windsurfing in the 80's  (YeAh!). They have a twin fin set and a tri fin set.

Now I 'm a beginner, I've got a 7.6 Impact boards surfboard, my weight is 80kg (160 pounds) and I wonder if these fins are a good choice? If not, which fins would you encourage me to purchase?

Thanks a lot!

If it were me, I'd get the tri fin set because you have the option to use the center fin or not. When not using it, it's like you bought the twin fin set. Pretty much with anything I have, I like it to have multiple setttings or easy conversions.

If your surf locations have small to medium sized waves lacking power, then you may find the twin set is very good. You may also find the tri fin in these conditions works well, too, becauase the middle fin is smaller than the side bites. (and this contrasts wih normal tri fin setups that have longer fin in center and shorter side bites)

Let us know what you do and how it works.

Thx for your reply. My homebreak is chaos and better suitable for windsurfing. For surfing mosdt of the time I'll spend in Portugal and France.

What I am a bit worried about is the size of these FCS MR tri fins. Though they are indicated as L by FCS, I wonder if they will be the perfect match for somebody with my weight and my boardsize. My board is more or less a mini malibu, but the width of the tail is a bit wider than average.

Also interesting, the purchase price. €80 looks a bit on the expensive side isn't it?
