Re: Surveys!

KS,
you surely must know all these surveys piss me off (American English for "makes me very angry"). Funny, at this moment, I am pissed in the British sense (i.e., intoxicated)!
I'm thankful SurfPatrol came up with the shore dump category. It's where all these stupid surveys belong. As for why we have seen an increase in them, it's because too many high school and college kids are lazy dumb assess today. They know everything about using an i-phone, but nothing about mathematics, physics, history, grammar, etc. They sure as hell can't make a solder joint to assemble a computer or guitar amp. Most of them have never held wrench or carpenter's framing hammer in their own hand. In the old days, we researched in libraries and conducted in-person surveys at movie theatres, local government meetings, in wildnerness parks, etc. (We went to the people!) Also, because electronic communication has become too pervasive, they and professional employees overly relie on email and instant messaging. I can't tell you how many times I've had to force one of my employees or project staff to pick up the phone and call the client, subcontractor, agency personnel or whomever. In contrast, I'm scheduling more telecons, hardcopy correspondence, and in-person meetings. The result is I'm advancing work, gaining contracts, or getting what I want because I'm making human contact.
Now, off my soap box and off to bed. It's late enough for me and I've got chores for tomorrow. Hope the rest of you Tarzans go surfing.
