Another Surftec Repaire + spraying

Hi All - was going to add this onto someone elses topic but did not want to high jack it.

I have a few cracks in my surf tec and am going to fill with epoxy putty and sand. - I was on the understanding from Surftec web site that the EPS core is water proof so would only take a day or so to dry out! is this the case?

Also the board is blue instead of purchasing the Surf tec paint @ £15 a tin I was going to get some car body spary from halfords for about £5. is there any diffrense in the paint type? or is surftec paint just car body paint in a fancy tin

Any advise would be apprecaited

I wouldn't use sand. Better to get an epoxy ding repair kit as that will have the correct resin and filler material in it. Yes you can get away with tins of car paint but try a bit first before diving in and spraying a large area.

Ha ha meant to say fill with epoxy putty and sand smooth! he he. oki doky will try a bit car paint as for the core got this off surf tec web site

Why is Techlite foam different than other EPS foam?
Techlite Foam is the only Fused Cell Expanded Polystyrene. That means it doesn't leak, or off-gas over time. The cells are so tightly compressed they actually fuse together creating an impermeable water barrier. Most EPS foam is riddled with air pockets and crevasses, which means that when they get wet they suck; water. Techlite doesn't suck! In fact, if you ding your board, don't stress. Go surfing and fix it tomorrow!

Do you still need to fix dings in a Techlite core board, even though it doesn't soak water?
Well, is that even a serious question? Of course you need to fix it! Just not that second. Techlite won't soak water but the sandwich around the core is integral to your board's structural integrity. You don't want to jeopardize the breaking strength of the board any longer than it is necessary to represent and bust some sick airs.

So i will dinafile the crackes out and fill with putty.

Ok so av been board at work again serching around on the net - and getting para about some cracks on my board

so when do you know if a surftech needs a repaire? I have quite a few pressur marks / dents on the rails were it looks like the paint has cracked but not the core do these need repairing?

At dinner I got the dinofile out and ground out a wat looked like a small crack - but when i tuke the top layer off and reveled the brown layer the crack had disappered! so I am taking it was just the paint crack?

Can any one give me some advise on these boards / repaires or know any websites / help pages for repaires??
