Is this fixable?

Is this fixable?

Postby vanvanj » Sun Aug 22, 2010 3:34 pm

I bought this board at a yard sale for $20 bucks thinking it would be good enough to practice on as I am a novice at surfing. I grew up boogie boarding and am an expert at body boarding. I don't want to spend a "real" amount of money on a board that I am not sure if I will ever use so I couldn't pass up this for $20. What can be done to fix this, if anything? At the very worst this strictly could be a roof rack ornament to attract the ladies:)

Thats a bargain and yes it can be fixed if u have some fibreglassing skills? If not take it to a local shaper! It needs a new nose fixing on, shaping & glassing over. KS

thats definitely fixable. if you dont really care how it looks and wanna save some money you could fix it yourself rather then spending the money to have it repaired. what i would do is just sand it down flat, get a piece of fiberglass cloth and some resin, mix it up and cover over the exposed foam, let it dry, and sand it down flush with the rest of the board. you can get a ding repair kit from a surfshop or get some fiberglass cloth and resin from a local hardware store which tends to be cheaper. i was a little nervous trying to fix my first ding but its something that is very handy to learn to save yourself some money and make your boards last longer. good luck dude!
