Postby CowGirlSurfer » Fri Jun 18, 2010 4:52 pm

Hi Everyone,
Why is it soo hard to be permitted to photograph fireworks???
How do u get around that No Audio or Visual reproduction ??? I don't care & im Not going to be recording audio or visual of the performance but just the fireworks which are a courtesy of the place ( miller outdoor theatre in Houston tx).
Any Advice or Suggestions ?

Does anyone here know if photography permitted when the fireworks are being displayed in the sky at Miller outdoor theatre grounds (in Houston TX) for the 4th of July celebration

Thanks

Its quiet stupid to tell ya the truth. Its not like im going to be shooting photographs of the Symphony or the performers!!!

No audio or visual reproduction of any portion of a presentation at Miller Outdoor Theatre is permitted without the express written consent of the City of Houston.

http://www.milleroutdoortheatre.com/default.asp?id=132

but see this:

Produced by Houston Symphony
Fireworks courtesy of Miller Outdoor Theatre

So i think if it is a courtesy then i guess i can photograph that & i guess it doesn't fall under that NO AUDIO OR VISUAL REPRODUCTION like stated above? or does it?????

Hey Cow Girl......I didn't know you surfed!

I saw you asked this question on dPS too.

I've never heard of not being able to photography fireworks. I'm always getting calls from the local papers seeing if I'm going to be shooting them. The company that puts on most of the shows around here gave me a schedule of their events, just so I could shoot them.

Been a long time since I've been on this board.

Ask for permissions - that is all you have to do. I have rights to a USA song but over here in the UK because I asked if I could use their song - the group gave me written 'yes' permission back !

Maybe you could just take your shots from outside the theater, the fire works should be high enough in the air to get a clear shot and you can bypass the rules for being inside?
