Longboard for a shortboarder.

My only shortboard broke in half and summer has just begun. I'm thinking about picking up a longboard and learn how to cross-step, and hopefully hang ten with style. I'm 5'8" 130 lbs and I'm thinking about getting a board in the 9'0" to 9'6" range, single fin. Would that be a good range? The nose's rocker has to be completely flat as well, and if any of you nose-walkers have any input, I'll love to hear it.

Yes, that is the range you need. My wife is close to your weight and height and does well with a 9ft board. I had a surfing buddy for two years that was only 5ft 6in that used a 9ft 4in board. I would have thought it would be too much board, but I think his exceptional swimming skills made it work. However, there were days in which he couldn't get out. So, don't go too big. You'll find, if you haven't already, that the noses aren't just flatter, they're larger, too. Sorry, don't have any experience to identify good nose-walking boards, but I sure like watching surfers do it.

Get a classic shape and not a spooned nose rider.

I can cross step my Biarritz ultra narrow 9ft single fin gun on a good face from 1 to 8 feet !
