Rent or bring boards to Costa rica

Rent or bring boards to Costa rica

Postby marvictd » Tue Mar 09, 2010 9:47 pm

Im studying abroad in San Jose, Costa Rica this summer and although its not much a surf trip, I plan of spending a couple of weekends surfing. This will be my first time surfing abroad.

if I am going to surf for a total of 4-5 days, would you recommend that I rent a board there (like despised tourists) or should I bring boards??

depend where your going and for how long, i was in playa jaco, and there were so many second hand boards going so cheap, even saw some CI boards for $250 in good condition. it may be cheaper to buy a second hand that pay airline charges and if its a long stay, places charge from $10 - $25 per day for board rental and usually want a cred card or passport to hold onto during the rental...neither of which im happy to give over, so you may be better off finding a bargain and selling it on when you leave.
