Wearing a Hat while Surfing

Wearing a Hat while Surfing

Postby oceangrrl » Wed Mar 09, 2005 3:33 am

I was wondering if any of you surf with a hat on.. When i say hat, i mean like a baseball cap... I see pro surfer Melanie Bartels wearing a hat while ripping at the same time.. How do you keep it on? Cuz i hate it when the sun is in my eyes

Hats are possible if u surf small waves. I've seen people wear sunglasses too. The most interesting one is a guy smoking a cigar. And then theres a guy who carries juggling pins and juggles while he surfs.

Aloha!

There are hats specifically designed for the purpose.

I see mostly the older Mal brigade here wearing hats (there is about a dozen who wear them whenver the sun is out... the ones losing their hair. In theory it's a good idea, but for you fashionista's....well, surfing is so about image for you younger ones isn't it???
Thoses not wearing surfing specific one use a shoelace & tie it to the zip toggle of their wetting top.
Some wetsuit companies make them ...Bodyline here in New Zealand do www.bodyline.co.nz, they appear to work well in small surf...but, really, anything over 2-3 foot - unles you've got long lulls between sets to hang about & chat they'd be more of a distraction.

Billabong makes a cap with a strap on it so you wont lose it.
