surf frustration moral support needed

Postby garbarrage » Sun Mar 08, 2009 11:38 am

so here I am 5 months in to living by the ocean, and the winter nearly over. started a new life, job etc thinking surf every day finally. alas wasn't to be... finish work 5 days a weel at 5ish, sometimes 6... too dark to surf. daylight saving my ass!

started taking the longboard out again in anything up to DOH waves the few days I do get out just to knock the precious wave count up. getting out a bit more now that the evenings are getting a bit longer. can't wait till the clocks go back! only a few head wrecking weeks left till I'm living the dream!

anyone got any advice on how to get through the the winters out here without going crazy?

work your arse off so you can buy a new board come spring time. i haven't even paddled out since october. i HATE cold water...even though i'm surfing, i get angry and miserable. working keeps my mind off of it. but now that it's getting warmer out, i'm getting quite antsy

I think daylight saving kicked in last night here. My clocks don't match, it was dark when I woke up at the same time as always (my inner clock knows daylight savings?), and my dogs where pissed when I woke them up this morning.

Winter is a good time to swim often in the local swimming pool.

Come the spring and daylight surfing you will feel at home in the water and be very water fit indeed.

I can't wait until Winter lol! Summer is so depressing sometimes...I mean yeah, it is warmer etc. but I live 'inland' and havn't surfed for 5 weeks...driving me crazy!!!
British Winters can be harsh, the water temperature freezing, bad earaches and chills but I LOVE IT! I am swimming and jogging in preperation for Winter, bring those swells!!! :-)

That nasty M.S lol! What happened to Sunday? Typo? I'm sure I looked on Friday AM and it said 11.5ft, then Friday PM (after I got everything packed up), it said 1.5ft!
I have the 14-18th Sept off, so God willing, ANYWHERE, on this island we may get some waves! If I have to surf the river Trent I will do it lol!
Has this been the worse Summer on the East coast for a good few years? Or does it just seem that way?

Nice one Phil, sounds cool! Well, I finally have a long weekend, fri, sat and sun...more importantly may be some swell :-) hopefully on the East Coast, otherwise may head down to Devon or Cornwall.
