The Wedge: Advice?

The Wedge: Advice?

Postby Beachbum » Mon Aug 03, 2009 7:00 am

I'm currently in California for a wedding, and I really want to check out The Wedge. It seems like a crazy spot to check out, and I was wondering if you guys have any tips for bodysurfing this spot? I've bodysurfed at Sandys on Oahu, but I'm not all that great. I'm not planning on going out when it's double overhead at this spot anyway, but some general tips would be appreciated.

Didn't a bodysurfer just die at wedge? If you've bodysurfed pipe, wedge is cake.. the kind of cake with a cyanide capsule in the center. Tread carefully.

haha bracing for impact is something I learned at Sandys. Anyone know if the rip pulls out toward the rocks? I would hate to get stuck in that situation, and suffer the same fate as that old-timer who went there.

Yes, just follow the rest of the pack. However, unless it's huge like it was last week it really isn't all that bad, just watch that you don't bail out head first into half a foot of water.
