NYC - which wetsuit and waves

alright so im moving up to New York City for school in the fall and i had some questions.

1. what wetsuit thickness would be best up there? (i get cold sorta easily)

2. where are some good spots? Long Island, Jersey boardwalk? ive heard of Rockaway..

I'd use a 4/3, 1.5 booties, 1.0 hood, and, when it is really cold, a sleeveless rash guard under the suit.
best spots are on Long Island.

alright thanks, would a 4/3 be overdoing it you think? i mean it gets reeeal cold in fall/winter

see edit from 3/2 to 4/3. 4/3 is what I meant to write and it would not be over doing it. A 5/4 would be overdoing it unless you are surfing when snow is falling
