Wakeboarding in Summer

Okay, I don't really know much about wakeboarding. A guy from my work has a speed boat and I thought it might be cool to go wakeboarding in the summer when it's flat.

Does anyone do this?

What do you need?
A boat with a largeish engine? - Check!
A wetsuit? - Check!
A wakeboard? - Ebay!
A rope? - B&Q!
A lake? - The North Sea!

Surely that's it?

Also does anyone know where I can get an inflatable bannana boat to tow some hot chicks in bikinis around when I'm not wakin'!?!

The North sea maight be kinda choppy, a lake would be better. Done it a couple of times, loads of fun until ya face plant !!! :oops:

Ok, so the "speed boat" doesn't have the right hull to create a wake! But I reckon the first couple of times I wont be trying the spins and flips so I still think it's a goer. He already has a tow rope and skis and I found a banana boat on ebay.

All I need now is some chicks willing to sit on it in bikinis during a North Sea summer! I'm taking an add out in the local paper.

Just pour a load of concrete in the front of the boat, not enough to sink it, but enough to get it low in the water.

You don't actually need a boat to wakeboard - a few weeks ago I saw a guy wakeboarding behind his mates car in a canal - the guy was driving a 4wd and just hammering along the side of a canal. Pretty sure the cops would have had something to say about it if they were around, but they were going really well!

Most of the centers typicaly have rope tows around the edge of the lake.

We don't have any of these centers round here as far as I'm aware. I'm not really keen enough to go to one of these "official" places anyway. I fancy the half arsed method I've been doing my whole life. It's also not as easy to plonk a boat on a loch around here. Too many bloody tourists complaining about the noise (quite right). Where as the sea is full of ships so no complaints there.

Wakeboardings great fun and don't worry too much about the boat shape not producing too much wake. Just load it up with as much weight as possible (throw in a few extra haggis) as this will help produce bigger weight.

Oh and did i mention i've got a wakeboard for sale????

Is this one you've made? I'll really only be looking for a cheap second hand plank to have a go on, so I imagine you're out of my price range.

The bikini clad "babes" you get up here will probably be weighty enough to cause a wake.

Haha no its one i bought. I do have another one without bindings though that you could have cheap. £50 including postage. I'll dig out some photos if you want.

I'm not quite at the stage to start this. I need to make sure this isn't all pub talk. Usually I'm more keen than the other people involved when ever I try something new. Once I've had a go on the skis then I'll think about getting a board.
