Broke the tip on my board. Please help! Pics!

So I busted the tip on my board the other day. Up to this point, I've been using sun-cure for all my dings. However, I'm not too sure what to do in this situation. It's not completely broken off, as you can see in the pics. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

oh no, unlucky man. Fortunately its the most uncommon scar you see on boards. Best bet is take it to your shaper or where you bought it for a professional repair. If doing it yourself I'd put in a small rod or metal to strengthen the stringer then suncure all around making sure its water tight.

Metal tipped surfboard....?

Here's a little known fact.... surfboards dont need to be pointy at the front.
Assuming the stringer hasnt sustained too much damage (doesnt look like it has) then I'd simply round that nose off with a sander, then patch up properly with a couple of layers of fibreglass cloth and some resin, and then sand down until its pretty. Easy.

Ive broken the nose of boards and done a nice rounded off nose a couple of times.

You can also tell your mates that you're riding a board a couple of inches shorter

I strongly recomend that you don't put a metal tip in the nose of your board. As dbbb says round off the end of the nose and pour sound resin on it and then whilst the resin is stil wet stick a rubber nose guard on it.

Great, thanks for the help guys. I hate to be picky, but what if I wanted to keep the tip? If it was completely separated from the board, I would probably just round it off. Seeing as that isn't the case, would simply sticking some sun-cure in between the crack suffice(and subsequently filling any additional cracks and dings on the surface). It is just the tip of the board. Does it need to be exceptionally strong? Thanks again!

nah, would deffo round the nose off, doesn't look like a suncure ding...how much of the nose is actually broken off?

Take the tip off, put it on necklace and claim its a great white tooth. then round the nose off like everyone is telling you.

OK, a bit more detail for those who can't keep up..
If you were to insert a small, narrow metal rod (about the size of a matchstick) into the stringer about halfway up the length of the rod and then slide the nose over the remainder of the rod it would serve to give linear rigidity (which is what the stringer does) and it would help the fixing process by giving you a fixed point to work from with whatever polyester resin you choose to use.
To further to this point, as I originally said, I'd recommend taking it to a shaper or the shop etc to get a professional job done.

Ok a bit more detail for those that can't keep up.
The stringer of a surfboard is not there for strength or linear rigidity. This is provided by the fibreglass. The stringer is there to provide the rocker profile onto which the 2 halves of the foam blank are glued. Wrapping any ding or snapped tip or surfboard for that matter in fibreglass is the strongest way to fix it. Inserting bits of wood or metal for that matter which may well rust is pointless. Even with a snapped board there is no point trying to a fix a bridging piece of wood across the snap on the stringer as the strength of this fix is small when compared to the strength of the fibreglass wrap.
Agreed the shear strength of metal would be higher than that of fibreglass but think of the damage it would do if the nose was damaged again and the metal rod forced it way out through the skin of the fibreglass. Its a bad idea.

I'd round the tip off, strip the loose stuff and glass over it. You dont need a sharp point.

x100 on rounding the nose off.. You guys love your suncure huh?? I live by that stuff but only on the little dings. Fiberglass and epoxy for anything serious.
