Surfing through pier/whale orgy/wetsand sucks

The weekend swell was waaaaaay over hyped so no footage of 12fters but managed to snag some nice shots anyway. (Thanks to wetsand for over hyping a swell and turning the surf zone into a complete zoo, i was seeing really sketchy breaks with 50 guys+ to a peak what a joke). As i get more footage i will make a vid but for now i just rendered the one clip of me shooting the pier on the smaller of the days. The second half which is slowed down sounds like a demented whale orgy :lol:

Its a bit of bummer as the spot i really want to film has accesability issues and the only way to do it would mean one of us would have to not surf :shock:

maybe we will have to draw straws and suck it up :wink:

its funny but everyone was paddling towards me instead of away from me. The camera doesnt really show how many people were out but i think there were about 17+ people out at the southside (ocean beach san diego) which is a lot for such a small surf zone as usually there are only a couple, 7-8 max on a good day. This was largely due to the surf reporters calling epic waves on a weekend with good weather :shock:

a recipe for disaster :lol:

Still that was nothing compared to the morning session i had down the road with 30+guys per peak some even more crowded

Nice vid..I like the whale calls. The reports called it way more than it was. Up here in Ventura, the weekend was epic..a little to offshore with the winds...Monday and Tuesday were the real EPIC days...oil slick glass with overhead sets....I will be ditching work again today!

haha i definately made out a couple of people paddling straight towards you instead of the side.
