SoCal on fire

SoCal on fire

Postby SDCali » Sat Nov 15, 2008 11:26 pm

Well it's raining ash at my house from the fire in Anaheim Hills. Fire started this morning in Corona, plus another fire nearby in Brea. This after the fire in Montecito a couple of days ago and the fire that started last night in Sylmar (near where my sister has her acting class, that I drove her to today) seems as if I cannot escape the smoke. It's really dark here for the time of day.[/i]

yep, very windy earlier today, seems to have calmed down a bit now, but will probably kick up in an hour or so especially in the burn areas as the sun goes down, not that we can even see the sun from here as there is so much smoke.

Did you get to go out? How was the water quality? I'm not too fond of swallowing salt water and more so with a hint of ash.

From some shots and from what I personally say, it did kind of look like snow, but once it fell.. seeing it after the fact at my house there was some that looked like artificial snow (white) but also black too. These were the biggest pieces of ash I have ever seen at my house.

those pics are crazy. we had a big wildfire in the pocosin lakes region over the summer. it was pretty far away, but when you have the summertime dominant southwestery wind kicking up, the smoke got pretty bad sometimes. sunsets were always pretty crazy and eerie, like the pics above. ash would fall very rarely, since we were so far away. then another fire sparked up in the great dismal swap, so if it blew northerly/northeasterly, we'd get the smoke from that one. they were both burning the organic soil of the swamps rather than trees and undergrowth, so it smelled something awful..hope yalls get put out pretty soon

I was driving on the 210 to the 15 in San Bernadino county on Friday and the Santa Ana winds were insane. I was in a small car and it was getting pushed all over the road.
