TReMoR I had a job at 15, no reason why you cant work nights/weekends/ local shops or paper round or something, you've got less outgoings & tax etc than later in life too.

I dont mind when people complain and there trying, just when there not making an effort ! :D

And film sux.

I'm only 18 and I have quite an arsenal of camera gear, including L glass for those who know :D I bought all of it. I worked 60 hours for a while.

You can get a 10 or 20D for cheap and a kit lens.

Canon Rebel XTI is really cheap right now and you can get it with a 18-55mm lens. Great camera too. I have been using mine for a couple years now and I love it. Just make sure you shoot in RAW format.

Hey Tomcat, want to be jealous? Yesterday I picked up a 50D and it is amazing! I actually wore my 30D out, they say my shutter is going to break any time now. And I was wondering about the comment about only shooting in RAW. Unless you plan on printing something very large there really is no point. It is good for manipulating the shot in Photoshop, but you can do that with jpeg's too. I have never shot RAW once in my life and this is kind of what I do. I am not saying it is a bad thing, but for the regular guy, it is a lot extra work.

Ha ha sorry TReMoR I didn't mean to start a barrage of "get a job kiddo" and "when I was you're age I worked 12 jobs and passed all my exam" etc. I'm sure you don't want parental style nagging when you're on the forum!

I had a paper run and a dish washing job when I was 15 but spent all my pay on booze, which is NOT a route to follow! Stick in at your sums young man!

Christmas is coming up and compact digital cameras aren't too expensive these days, messing around with one of these will get your eye in and then you can get a flash one if you want to take it further.

You have successfully made me jealous

Love it????

I can't believe you wore the shutter out on the 30D......did you have over 50k clicks on it?

And I shoot in RAW all the time because it is so much easier to fix any exposure issues and white balance, etc. When I start messing with jpegs like that the noise comes out easier. I don't think it's too much extra work. So pretty much I shoot in RAW....just in case. Along with a lot of messed up lighting situations (shadows from helmets, etc) you can add fill light in really easily.

But after all that is said, everyone remember the days of film and minimal post processing?
