Superfreaks vs. Hurley Phantoms

Superfreaks vs. Hurley Phantoms

Postby the.ronin » Wed Sep 24, 2008 3:34 am

I'm totally diggin my Superfreaks. As boardshorts go, they have convinced me hands down that its gotta be stretchy or bust.

I wanna get another pair of boardshorts. I've been checkin out the insanely priced Hurley Phantoms. Anyone that has tried both? Which ones did you like better?

Nah I don’t do any of the big gatherings like SoCal Euro, Dubfest or Dubwars. I used to do some local gtg’s though.

Oh man, it sucked. We were heading for a “secret fishing spot” out at Punta Santo Tomas in Baja ... my friend kept reassuring me it was a “short drive” over dirt roads. Turned out being close to an hour over washboard terrain. I was pissed

You know, I rarely ever use the racks. It’s only if there are people in the back seat and I can’t slide the boards through the trunk. Otherwise, both my wife’s 6’6 funboard and my 6’0 fit nicely with room to spare for gear.

hehe yeah.. I used to go that route as well.. but I hated that I would concern myself with cleaning off everything before putting it in there.. getting sand and salt water all over my seats and carpet and junk.. Idk, sometimes I get too anal about this car. :x

I've been keeping an open eye out for a early-mid 90's Toyota truck that I can use for my beater.. and just not have to worry about this car so much. :/ Until then though, the racks do just nicely. :)

bad pic, i haven't gotten around to taking any 'good' ones, and my digi cam just broke. so this is what i got..about 30 seconds after this i was pulled over

oh yeah, i usually just throw my boards in the back with the seats down. i think i have enough sand in my car that i could build a dune. both boards fit with ease. if there's multiple people/longboards, then the rack is used. i got the thule surfboard carriers, and they're pretty nice. a pain to put on and off, so i usually will just leave em on. but once they're on, tying down the straps is a breeze

Shorts

Postby bclose » Wed Oct 01, 2008 4:01 am

I have 2 pairs of the Hurley Phantoms and worth every penny! I haven't tried the other stretchy ones but these are super comfy, don't retain water. no rashing etc. they were $85 but i don't even touch my old shorts.
