Wetsuit care

Hey, Just wanna get some tips on what people do to make their wetsuit last that extra season? I normally just wash mine out after each session, is there anything i can buy to clean it etc....?

Ye, you should always wash it out after use. It will make it last much longer and wont smell. I just run my bath with warm water and wash it in that. You can buy some shampoo especially for washing your wetsuit, but in my opinion for price you may aswell just use regular bath shampoo just to get it smelling nicer.

Additionally you can leave it to soak in a bath of fresh water for 24hours every 4-6months or so. Then hang up and dry as normal. This helps keep the neoprean moist and supple.

I rinse mine out with freshwater from a hose then hang to drip dry away from direct sunlight if I can. Taking care of your suit will give it a longer life.

I always rinse in clean salt free water.
I have to admit that (though) if I'm surfing the next day, I hang to dry (inside out) in the sun for an hour or 2 to accelerate the drying and then hang in the garage to finish. Is this going to ruin my suit?

I always do most of the above, and the suit is fine...but there's a flipin' small hole in one of the shoulders after appearing. No doubt it'll get bigger the more I pull in on and off.

my last session i actually tried out washing is in the washer and letting it dry, seems fine but i would only do it once, i think i will leave it to the bath tub and shampoo.

Rinse it off with freshwater once I get home from the beach and let it hang dry outside.

Oh! I've been sticking it in the washer on rinse and spin then spin and then hanging it in the airing cupboard with the boiler! It still feels ok but am I to assume that this is BAD?

An airing cupboard is a small closet containing a hot water storage cylinder. Temperatures inside the cupboard can get in excess of 100F.

TheMilo. Just make sure you take it out as soon as it is dry. Don't leave it to cook. If you don't need it the next day, then let it dry au naturel in the garage.
