Epoxy (Surftech) or Polyester?

So I got a polyester board but I am seeing some nicely priced epoxy (surftech) shortboards and I am looking for a shortboard. Now I am concerned about the difference between this epoxy (surftech) and polyester. What's the difference? Personally, I have no problems with my polyester one and I love it. How different would it be with an epoxy?

Polyester and epoxy are both types of resin that is used to "glue" fiberglass mat to an object like a foam blank and to itself. The chemical formulas are different, but they are used for the same purpose. Polyester use occured earlier than epoxy.

Polyester is preferred by many surfers because it allows for some desired board flex. Epoxy is more stiff. It is preferred by some automobile body and boat makers. These are generalities. For example, you could use two or more additional layers of fiberglass with polyester resin that it has no flex.

There really isn't much in the way of cost difference. If you want a board that can take a little more of a beating, select an epoxy board. If you are an experienced surfer that has "the feel," then select polyester.

ive figured that out but what im wondering is if there are ways to make a polyester board tough?

glass it like hell then you lose the flex, but u make it stronger
