NSP's = good?

I'm gonna go on a euro surf trip, and in the trip ill b at a surf camp in portugal for 2 weeks. Now after these 2 weeks i'll b a heck of a lot better at surfing, doing cutbacks etc. For a first board, would you reccomend n NSP. kEEP IN MIND i LIVE IN LONDON AND AM NOT ABLE TO REACH SURF AS FREQUENTLY AS PEOPLE WHO LIVE NEAR THEM!!

naaa, i've surfing for a good 7 weeks now, im just wanting to fine tune it! lol im on a training course FOR 2 weeks! lol

Mean mode disabled - nsps are good for beginers but you will outgrow them quickly particually if you plan on doing cutbacks in 2 weeks and evolving onto busting airs in a month :wink:

You want to get the 7'11 NSP - they do the best cutbacks.

In order to do a proper cutback, you'll need to find a shaper and have them custom build you a board.

I tried out an NSP when I was still looking around for my first board. I'd read a lot about them, but was sceptical about the rubber grip at the back. I know.. they're not exclusive to NSPs, but I 'tripped' on it all the time. It's not where I naturally put my back foot anyway, and that plus my wetsuit shoes (wetshoes? lol) just made for weirdness. The board itself was very heavy and almost plasticy. I say go for a 'normal' board, whichever one you want, and then if you fancy the extra grip, you can buy the rubber thingies seperately and just stick it on yourself.

(The board I tried was 7 ft 6, too big for me anyway.. I rented it from Cayton Bay surf shop...)

This is just a reaction to one of many boards you can get. My suggestion is to RENT until you find one you like, or in my case, eliminate the ones you don't : P

NSP sux, too stiff...

and probably not Al merrick for first board, way too expensive... i reckon DHD or a Webber is good.

Hmmm call me scepticle but after 7 weeks. I think someone needs to cutback on the B/S!

But to answer your question. NSP's are for beginers and if you're claiming to be doing cutbacks you're no longer a beginer and hence don't need an nsp. But we all know how hard cut backs are to do, so get your self something sensible with lots of float and don't spend a fortune on it.

true... i doubt kelly slater would that good when he just started surfing for 7 weeks, even if he surfed 24/7
