How long does it take to water-log a board?

Postby NorCal9 » Sun Mar 07, 2004 5:11 am

I wanted to know if a board can be water logged in a few surf sessions? I'm talking a smaller ding maybe the size of a nickle. I don't think it's anything duct tape won't temporarily fix but I wanted a few more opinons.

Thank You

Repair those dings!

Hi NorCal9, welcome to Surfing Waves.

My advice is to repair a ding straight away. Water starts getting in immediately and obviously the longer you leave it the more water you'll take on board. Once the water is in there it stays in there. If you can't fix it straight away and it's not a serious ding then duct tape will do the job - so will a bit of surf wax just to make it water tight.
Why not invest in some of that resin in a tube stuff - It's handy if you do not have your own glass and resin to fix the board and you want your board fixed straight away. Its cheap and easy to use and on a sunny day your board can be ready to surf in half a day.
