It was indeed a great result for England. I wonder if the footie boys can do it in the Europeans!

Unfortunately i'd have to say the footie boys don't have a chance...
They always seem to bottle when it comes to the crunch. Take the brazil game in the World Cup. To be fair i don't think they even competed. They went through the motions and just turned up.

That's not to say i won't be rooting 4 em. Cos I will be!!!!!! 100%

The difference with the Rugby team was summed up 4 me by a quote i heard:

"Rugby is a thugs came played by gentleman, football is a gentleman's game played by thugs"

I didn't see one England Rugby player complain in those last few seconds of normal time when the ref gave that 50/50 decision of a penalty to let the Aussies level. If that had been The football team there would have been a proper fit thrown up....

On another topic, did anyone see the Rugby celebrations in London? That was mad... It really brought the nation together. Was anyone there?!

meh we beat u at everything else, league, swimming, tennis, cricket, lets not forget your very own sport of football. fluke i say ;)

if it wasnt for that boring jonny wilkinson you wouldnt of won. that may sound harsh, but truth is, you wouldnt of. clive can crap on all he wants, but wilkinson saved you.

I'd agree with most of that, except:

1.There is no way in hell the Australian national football team even compares to the English. You may have beaten us on occasion, but like you said, that was fluke...

2.Johnny Wilkinson was key to the Rugby team, but we are still kicking ass in the six nations while he is out injured, so the team can play without him. Whether we would have beaten you without it, who knows, and frankly "bothered",...we are the champions...

IMHO the English team were the best in the tournament and the Aussie side were more than fortunate to be tied at full time.

hey im welsh and even I'll concede that England deserved the title! (for those that don't understand this, there is a history between wales and england, and a popular car sticker reads 'I support Wales, or whoever's playing England' hehe, but i was glad England won :D

Ok... one question, when you guys say "football" you mean soccer right?

I watched that rugby game, the captain I flew with is from London so he MADE sure we were watching while they played.

I talked to the Captain I was flying with and he told me he was in absolute shock that someone from Wales would actually say England deserved the cup and then proceded to tell me the history. freaky_welsh_chick, you'll be happy to know your thread was printed out and he has framed it to show all his friends. Got to love rivalries.

hehe thats cool :). still the rivalry there of course.... i'll be screamin rather loudly at the television as wales plays england in the 6 nations, but u gotta love the english with their funny accents an all, lol

I noticed the English from London itself have a "f" kind of sound to certain words, anyone else ever notice that??

oooh Ireland won today, i thought that was cool too. in fact i think its cool when anyone wins, except france or italy. no offence to them like, its just its great when such little countries in comparison do well it seems kinda funky :D i dont think we have any irish people on this board do we? surf patrol ur in ireland aren't you? congrats to all who supported em today :)
