newbie on the surf...suggestions wanted please

hey every one

im new to sufing and havent been out yet but am really excited to get out., ive been on a skateboard or dirtbike my whole life and have been riping the dirt and street apart! and i figure its time to get some salt water in my veins...my neighbor is moving and gave me his mint board for free :D :D ...i have a few Q's...first off does anybody have any suggestions for sufing and dealing with locals...and does anybody know about some good begginer spots by or around ventura Ca, :D :D




(p.s. ive read all the sites riding lessons but experince and opinoin is always good too)
