Set an edge

Set an edge

Can anyone explain exactly what is meant by "setting an edge"?

I have an idea, but I'm not sure?
I assume it has to do with putting a rail in the water as your riding down the line as apposed to planning on the surface. But, what do you need to do to "set an edge." Apply more pressure to the inside half of the board (area closer to the wave)? And, do it with out turning.

Hopefully I've explained the question well enough to get an answer. :)
