Where do they come from? And how would you go about fixing them?

'Ding' - where a board has been knocked and has got a hole in it (hole is the wrong word - 'indent' maybe). Or a 'pressure ding' is where the board gets pushed out of shape where your feet usually stand.

If the ding doesnt go through the laminate/fibreglass layer then the best thing is just to live with it, and your surfboard has a scar to show off

If it goes through, it needs fixing immediately otherwise water gets into the board and wrecks it - you can buy ding repair kits, or get a professional to do it if its a whopper

What can ding a board? Rocks, dropping them, other surfboards, car parks, those damned steps at Putsborough, cars backing over your board, tripping over your leash and standing on it, stones hitting it on the motorway, sucking dry as you drop down the face, piers... to name a few...
