contact lenses??

Hello

I´ve got a problem because my ability to see isn´t very good and I was wondering if it would be a problem to use contact lenses...
Do you think that I will loose them?
Does anyone has some experience with that?
If I just went surfing without contact lenses, would it be dangerous because I couldn´t estimate the waves?
