16 is just fine, you're a spring chicken. I'm not a doctor, but I don't see why mild haemophilia would be more of a problem while surfing that any other sport. If in doubt, have a chat to your doctor.

Hi Baker, your age is no problem, the haemophilia risk would be about the same as for any other contact sport, have your doctor assess the risk for you, , bruising and minor cuts and abrasions happen with the sport and major cuts are a risk to anyone! You probably have dealt with things at that level in you day to day life already.
I would suggest wearing a medi alert bracelet, and have a decent first aid kit with you when you go surfing.
Oh it's good to go with a buddy who knows how to look after you and good fun to have a friend just to share the surfing with.

Having said that, 'we' hope you do as you wish and come to a safe end, ready to fight another day . . . just like any other surfer !

Ask your doctor to devise a safety paln, go with someone just in case (as we all should anyway) . . dunno really but hey . . . go ask the Doc.

You are not too old! I started at age 46. There are many guys that have started post 30.

About your health condition: depends on how good or bad it is. Also, you can control how much you can exert yourself. In surfing, you can be a kamakazi or go EZ.

So, the short answer is probably yes, haemophiliacs can probably surf, provided you have considered prophylactic therapy, are wearing medic alert bracelet, and have a plan in place with your doctor, family and friends. Also think about a helmet.

DO NOT go surfing without seeing your doctor.

You really need to sort it out with your doc and your family. Also, if you haven't already, see a haematologist and discuss your situation.

It is reccomended to avoid contact sports, due to the significant risks of joint damage, which can lead to very serious consequences in hemophilia. Surfing can easily lead to similar injuries in certain circumstances, so you must be prepared and seek medical advice from you doctor.
