Lost my mojo!

Lost my mojo!

Postby Hoolio » Tue Dec 22, 2009 1:25 am

Have been surfing a year or so, made big steps about a month ago and feeling good - but suddenly it's all gone! Even catching a wave is now a struggle...where the hell has my mojo gone? if anyone knows how I can find it please let me know!

Take two or three days off, sometimes I overwork my body and need to let it heal up a bit. Also, go with a friend, sometimes just having a bud around to distract you can get your mind about the funk you are in...

could be trying too hard... sometimes if your last session was a good one you might enter the water expecting the same thing forgetting what made the last session a good one.
try clearing your head and just enjoy being there... let a couple of waves go, take your time choosing the right one and when the right one comes make sure you aren't thinking about anything else.

Try a bigger board...more float, more paddle, more waves.

There will be time for small performance boards when you have more waves under your belt.

Everyone has those days. Sometimes you're having an off day and sometimes you're just unlucky. Sometimes the surf is soft and mushy, but it's really clean. The cleanness makes it look epic, but you just can't get into anything, and you can't figure out why.
Every now and then you get three or four surfs in a row like that. It completely fills you with self doubt. You drive home from the beach a broken man, wondering if it's over. What to do? Seek spiritual guidance? Sell the boards and find a new hobby? Kill yourself?
Don't kill yourself.
I have this happen to me once or twice a year. You're just having a run of bad surf days. Think about it dude. How is it possible to just suddenly suck at surfing? You could do it last week. You'll be able to do it next week. I can pretty much guarantee it. Follow the advice of the previous posts and take a few days off to catch up on your  and your :yearght: then get back out there.
You can still do it.
Peas.

bio rhythms.

One day you can surf like a king another like a pauper but the more experience you get the less bad days you have. But make no mistake everyone has a bad session where they cant make anything happen and sometimes that can last a while. Take a few days off watch some surf vids and im sure it will come back. The worst thing to do is fall victim of frustration as that just amplifies any issues.
