SUP board.

Hello Everybody,

Just wondering if anyone has experience of the cheaper SUP boards like NSP's or anything? I'm thinking of investing in the next couple of weeks. Reason being, I live 2 hours drive from any surf so I want to get one for the days with no surf just to get out on the water and keep active without driving for 2 hours. I mainly intend on using it on a nearby lake and maybe occasionally on the coast. I've been keeping an eye out for a second hand one but they rarely come up and when they do they are still 800+ so I'm considering the nsp 10'2 or 10'6 costing around 600 new. Ive never tried it before so completely new, I'm 6ft and 12 stone so just wondering if these are about right size? Has anyone any experience of these? Are the any good for Any advice or recommendations would be great.

Glacker welcome back, the NSP has a volume and set of weight recommendations you could apply that on other boards.

Yea I think it will be ok for me, especially seen as I'm not really intending on getting into the surfing side of it. The shorter board is actually a bit wider and has more volume so i might go for that, if their anything like the surfboards they should be pretty tuff too. Do you use a Sup? It will be a nicer way of keeping fit then going to the gym all the time between surfs.

I have a nice lake out the front of my house to SUP on but the local opinion of SUPers who come ihere is not good.
They come unaware and lacking etiquette in the surf , if more than two are out no-one else gets a wave. SO you will see my SUP thinning device on the lake in front of my house.

Okay . . . you want a still water SUP that is heavy !! . . . noooo - get a custom carbon SUP and a stiff paddle composite. Light fast and fun (I take it you do know the paddle specifications you require? ) . . . I'm an ex uk championship winning white water kayaker who really understands paddle vs size vs weight / experience and marketing of the big boys . . . ie. I'll custom build what you want to allow you to exceed the standard market pop-out stuff.

Consider your perfect day out, and compare to the inferior stuff you might otherwise buy . . . I build stuff in the UK from only the best materials . . . I like and use what I build and I put my name behind them all.

I'll sort you out to your (my) 'specs if you wish.

Cheers for reply, Didn't realise there was specs to consider with paddles, I taught they would be pretty standard, light and adjustable length?. There's 2 things I'm thinking of looking at the boards, Cost and versatility, I don't want to spend a fortune, I want to do it as cheap as possible because this is just something for sh!ty days either on the lake or maybe on the beach sometimes, so I guess I want a kind of all-rounder. Have you a website or anything to have a look at your boards?

Hey,

Just wondering if anyones used a Nalu 11'6, all the reviews seem good but don't know if it might be a bit big for me at 6ft and 80kg? The board is 11'6 x 29.5'' but it is 5.5 thick so huge volume of 230l. I'm able to get a good deal on one so tempted to go for it but don't know if I'll have issues because of its size. Any advice would be hugely appreciated.
