Graffiti on my board.. what works?

I want to spice up my board a little bit, its second hand cos i havent been surfing for that long, its in good condition but its that kind of off white colour and i want to jazz it up a bit...

i've got some pretty good experience in stencil graffiti but dont want to try anything out on my board yet before finding out what's safe and durable...

any ideas??

i heard regular spray paint just doesnt cut it..

right here u go mate.
to begin with get all the wax off ur board remove the fins etc. us some coarse sand paper and go over the whole board then move down to finer paper bout 320. best thing to do now on paper draw wht u want the board to look like and most importantly work out the colous layers for example if u ewant flames on white back ground. spray the whole board black(the outline of the flames) then use maskin tap and go over where the outline is so when u peal it off it wuld leave a black line( leave all the tape on until uve totally finished and a day to dry. then everything goes white over the tape once dry mask the areas of the oard that u dont want paint on like the background of white. u will be left with the area tht u want to be the flames now spray this in the desired affect. leave for a day or 2 to dry properly. peal off all the tape now use the finest sand paper u cant get about 800-1000 paper over the whole board. then use some tcut that they use on car bout 3 times over the board. finally about 4 coats of clear laquer and finished.
it sounds a very long and differcult process but its not u have to take ur time though or there will be problems. as for the paint use normal car spray paint. hes a pic of my board which i did before christmas and its still in mint condition.

that board is sweet....im not planning on painting my board but will that advice work for skimboards?

Dave, i haven't as yet done any airbrushing on the boards i've made and i see you've sprayed yours after it had been glassed and everything. What types of paint did you use? I'm guessing there not water based acrylics as you haven't mentioned re-hotcoating the board after spraying. Also when you mentioned heavy sanding the board after removing the wax, surely on alot of boards especially performance shortboards with minimal glassing would you not be risking sanding into the laminates?

i used car spray paint for it and and laquer protects it. the ot dip would work aswell like the laquer so tht another option. the only reason to sand that much is to get a really nice work surface. but with the thin coats as u mentuoned just be careful and aware just in case.
