Huh, I've had that happen to me. You see the wave coming toward you (the 'backwash' wave) and think 'i'll just float over it'. Then it hits you and tries to drive your feet through your head. It's painful.

Thats an ugly wave though. Looks like low tide on a sandbar with about 1ft of water below it and all sorts of bits and pieces.
